whisky quartz in cage setting
An incredible 102 carat trillion cut Whisky Quartz. This gemstone has a VS rating (very small inclusion). I have set it in a ‘cage’ setting. I textured two panels of Argentium silver with a Magnolia leaf (from the tree in our yard). And then created a ‘cage’ using silver bars to create a space to hold the depth of this gemstone. The interesting effect of the cage is that the chain or collar goes thru the cage rather than thru a bail, creating a more stable and shorter hanging system.
This pendant is 5.1 cm by 5.1 cm. It weights 36.1 grams.

Argentium Silver is a high quality silver with a silver content of 935. It has the unique feature of having a small amount of Germanium added. Argentium Silver is whiter, harder and slower to tarnish. And it is always nickel-free.
