Rune pendant – letter ‘F’ – antique Argentium silver wax seal
This Rune is called Fehu. It is the origin for the letter ‘F’
Fehu means either ‘Cattle’ or ‘Wealth’.
Fehu stands for the abundance. From its appearance, it is said to embody the horns of a cow or an ox. In the original sense, it symbolized material wealth, usually in the form of cattle.
The Runes I make are based on The Elder Futhark. This is the writing system used by Germanic peoples in the 2nd to 10th Centuries and is considered to be the basis for our current alphabet.
I make a melted puddle of Argentium Silver resembling a wax seal. Then I fuse pieces of square wire to make the Rune symbol.
When I have both pieces ready, solder the Rune to the base. I dap the entire piece for a gentle dome. Then the bail is added and lots of polishing.
The entire pendant is then antiqued. The antique finish is permanent and it never needs polishing.
