Circle inside D ring with Ethiopian Opal
This is a round cabochon of Ethiopian Opal with beautiful colour and good transparency. It is solid Opal – NOT a doublet or triplet with a quartz cap – but a solid Opal stone. This Opal is 2 carats.
A deceptively simple design – I started with a wide band of silver and formed a ring. Using the same width I formed a D shape – fusing a flat sheet to a curved sheet. Then tucked the circle inside the D for a double thick ring shank. Next I made the bezel for the gemstone – and soldered it all together.
This ring is a size 9.5. The front is 1.06 cm wide and the back is 0.6 cm wide. The weight is 8.0 grams.

Argentium Silver is a high quality silver with a silver content of 935. It has the unique feature of having a small amount of Germanium added. Argentium Silver is whiter, harder and slower to tarnish. And it is always nickel-free.
