quartz in cage setting
This pendant is a very beautiful, 109 carat Quartz. This Quartz was mined in Africa and is rated IF (internally flawless). It has been cut in a teardrop shape with a checkerboard finish. I started with two sheets of Argentium silver which I textured with lace. I then added silver bars to create a ‘cage’ to hold this deep, large gemstone. A really nice benefit of the ‘cage’ setting is than the chain or collar goes between the bars, rather than the a bail. The pendant hangs very securely and with less movement because of this unusual design.
The pendant is 5.5 cm long by 4.3 cm wide. It weighs 39.1 grams.
Included with the pendant is an 18″ sterling silver Omega chain.
